Winston bought No Worries from Dave Dugan, Augusta, South Carolina in the Spring of 2007. Dave had a lot of restoration plans for her that Winston will have to finish. We await a progress report from Winston but in the meantime below is a lot of stuff that Dave provided.
Ron
I am the proud new owner of Yankee Yachts Hull #79 which I purchased from Dave Dugan in March this year. Dave sent me your Dolphin 24 web site info and I have enjoyed looking it over. I plan to submit my information to join the forum in the near future.
I have not started restoration as of yet (trying to get honey dooes off the table) but it looks like your site will provide much needed support.
Best regards

Your webmaster had an exchange of emails with Dave Dugan which are excerpted below:
I bought her from a friend of mine after the death of her husband... Seems the boat was the first thing to go... :-) Other than that, info is pretty scarce.... I don't believe that he was her first owner, but the charts with the boat had her all over the Gulf of Mexico and in eastern side of Florida... She was un-named when I bought her ( I think that's a sin) About all I had was a brass plate above the V- berth with her hull number...
The plan is to get her sailing again. As I began to remove portions of the old deck, I found that the entire deck needed to be replaced, along with the electrical, plumbing, and all the running rigging.... These are some pictures of the initial demolition. I think the projected re-launch is going to have to wait a little longer.....
I never finished her... I actually got all of her deck off, as it was rotten, and had most of everything else stripped.. Then, I ran out of money.... I'm sure that you know how that goes??? I actually donated her, and a gentleman from Tennessee purchased her came down and picked her up. I'm from SC... I think he's going to pick up where I left off....
Never got her in the water.... Really wished I could have gotten No Worries in the water and sailed her....
Dave

Winston Phillips and your webmaster exchanged emails on December 10 and the following is an edited summary. Some of this information might be useful to others with wood deck/cabin Dolphins.

Ron,
Thanks for checking on me. I haven’t been able to start work on this endeavor as yet, but intend to get started after the New Year. I do keep up with your post and other information that you so aptly provide. I like seeing pictures of the other Dolphins especially photos showing the cockpit areas. My progress so far only consists of sketching how I might construct the new deck and cockpit area. All the old cockpit framing, bulkheads, lockers, seating, comings, winch towers, bridge deck and etc. was removed prior to my purchase. This gives me a clean slate to configure as I would like, but not yet comfortable with how best to make these arrangements. Any input from you and the group would be appreciated.

Hi Winston
Thanks for getting back to me. My boat, Marionette is a wood boat on a fiberglass hull, like No Worries. As it happens I am redoing the interior and everything is stripped out. Some of the pictures are up on her page. http://www.dolphin24.org/restorations_marionette.html
Also, check out http://www.dolphin24.org/teal_construction.html. Teal was the original name of my boat and the guy who built her sent me some pictures taken during construction that might help.
I'll take some more interior pictures, and the cockpit from the inside, trying to get shots of the framing so you see what was done. Maybe that will help.

Ron,
Thanks for the information. I’ll look for your pictures when you can.
My sailing grounds are area lakes where I day sail my little Victoria 18. I will probably put the Dolphin in Kentucky Lake for summer cruising, and since it trailers I could venture to the coast as time allows. (Dreaming about that one)
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
