Larry Taylor (Black Dolphin) sent in the following price list dated March 30, 1960. At the end of the 2 page document there is a note that all prices are quoted F.O.B New Bedford, MA, with commissioning available at New Bedford for $125. At this time these boats were being built at Marscot Plastics in a old mill building in Fall River, MA about 12 miles further west. The fiberglass shell, with lead attached, was shipped to what was once the Carl Beetle Boat Yard in New Bedford where the interiors and external wood like toe rail, hatches, combings, etc, were fitted.
Webmaster Note: This Carl Beetle yard had been reported purchased by Palmer Scott some years earlier and was run by his son Duncan. Other reports indicate that this yard was purchased by Concordia Yachts (they eventually bought the Beetle business) and that it was doing contract work for Marscot Plastics. Our field investigators will work on this.
