Canopache's Trailer

December 17, 2009 Eric Varty sent in a photo and a couple of emails (edited and consolidated) about his almost new trailer for Canopache, his Yankee # 188.

Hi Ron

The trailer is not a Mercedes, like the Triad, but will serve with honor!  It is one year old, dual axle, galvanized with surge brakes (I would have preferred electric), barely 150 miles on the tires, and never even titled!  I was happy to pay $2,000.00.

This trailer was a "pull-out" from under a Cape Dory 25D that was sold  without the trailer.  It is a 6000# (6960 GVW) set up for a boat that  was 25' overall with a 19' waterline, 8' beam, 3'-6" draft, and 5120#  displacement.  The trailer frame was fitted with galvanized posts and  pressure treated bunks and keel pad. I am hopeful with minor  adjustment from it's current configuration I will be able to fit my  boat to it with relative ease!

Eric
