I will double check, but it is clearly visible near the top of the centerboard trunk, which is in the bilge, below the cabin sole access hatch. I've found it. Trouble is, it's not a bolt, and I have not figured out how to remove it.

Thank you Tom. I've ground down both sides of the forward end of the centerboard trunk. Have not hit a bolt or metal pin yet. Wondering if it may be deeper - buried in the poured-in ballast material.

Mark, I have a Yankee (#186). The Pacific Dolphin's centerboard appears to be identical to the Yankee, meaning that the pin is actually in your bilge (cabin side) under some glass. This is different from O'Days (and maybe Lunns?) that had the pin buried externally in the keel. Definitely limits the exploratory surgery necessary.

Hi Burke,
Welcome to the group. I own Pacific Dolphin #264. Can you tell me how far aft from the front of the centerboard well was the pin located and how far below the top of the well was it.    I'm in the process of trying to remove my centerboard too.

I am the proud (and thrilled) new owner of Yankee Dolphin Hull #237. I'm hoping to get her into the water in the next few weeks and had a quick centerboard question.

The board is binding in the trunk so that it cannot be fully raised. I'd like to remove the board to get to the root of the problem, and have found what looks like a pin in the bilge on the top of the trunk.

This "pin" is located under an aluminum plate screwed into the side of the top of the trunk, and is NOT a bolt. It's a flat circular disk about an inch in diameter with a hole in it.

Is anyone familiar with this arrangement, exactly what type of "pin" this is and how I might remove it to remove the board?

I am actually seriously looking for a used trailer which can fit the boat now. I have e-mailed quotes for new trailers ranging from $3850-7699, but my budget to justify has to come in at <$2000 or the numbers actually flip the 'project' boat to being more expensive than the 'non-project' boat.

Learning more every day I work toward getting a Dolphin!
